Job Description

We are looking for a Dental Assistant to join our vibrant, fun and dedicated team in Melbourne. This role offers you the chance to work in a dynamic environment and play a role in supporting our work to protect the health and safety of the public by ensuring dental practitioners meet the high standards required of dental professionals in Australia.

Reporting to the Venue Coordinator, you will be responsible for setting up clinic and treatment rooms and assisting candidates undertaking simulated procedures in our purpose-built Examination Centre. The role also provides support to examiners and staff to ensure the smooth running of the practical examination for overseas qualified dental practitioner seeking to register to practise in Australia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide assistance to candidates and examiners in carrying out daily tasks and procedures.
  • Set up various clinic, treatment rooms, examination rooms, and laboratory.
  • Maintain Examination Centre equipment and facilities, including clinic chairs, dental instruments and examination rooms. 
  • Assist with preparation of examination materials.
  • Ensure the storage, packaging and collection of waste and sharps is in accordance with ADC policies and procedures.
  • Manage candidate registration and related administrative duties.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Qualifications relevant to dental assisting (Certificate IV in dental intraoral x-ray with a current radiography licence desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to liaise with a wide range of individuals
  • Ability to closely follow policies and instructions
  • A customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with current dental materials and equipment
  • Experienced in general maintenance of dental clinics and equipment
  • Contemporary knowledge of infection control
  • Proven ability to independently organise work priorities, monitor workflow and meet busy schedules.
